You may have noticed that your customers are stumbling at the last post when they’re buying products from your eCommerce site. Or, you’re just embarking on setting up a web shop to sell to customers online and are considering ways they can pay. There are a number of payment gateways that you can chose from, all with proven security measures and are easy to set up.
PayPal
You’ve probably used PayPal when purchasing or selling through eBay. PayPal is a very well known payment processor and is very easy to setup. The service allows people to send money without sharing financial information, with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts, credit cards or promotional financing. PayPal is owned by eBay. There are no setup fees and it is recognised worldwide, supporting 25 currencies. You do pay a withdrawal fee if you are based in certain countries – the UK and USA are currently free.
SagePay
Sage Pay Go is simple to manage and integrate with your website or e-commerce platform. As you’d expect it is compatible with Sage accounting software. You will need to set up a merchant account first. It’s good value too – you pay £20 per month for up to 1,000 transactions per quarter, with no set up fee. Previous clients The Name Label Company and Tucano Beach are finding this option is really working well for them.
WorldPay
WorldPay is a part of the The Royal Bank of Scotland group and is one of Europe’s largest payment services providers. WorldPay can process over 75 payment types and 120 transaction currencies and is active in over 40 countries.
PayPoint
Formerly known as SECPay, PayPpoint offer online credit and debit card processing services from £10 per month. Virtual Terminal is aimed at businesses that manually process credit and debit card payments received by telephone, fax and mail order, whilst Gateway Hosted offers a quick and secure way to process online payments. Ideal for start-ups or SMEs (with an Internet Merchant Account) who want to trade cost effectively online.
Google Checkout
One of the advantages of using Google is that Google checkout gives you the ability to offset your AdWords budget. For every £1 spent through AdWords each month, you can process £10 in sales for free. It also integrates neatly into other Google products you may use to run your business.
